The Cathedral of Saint Andrew goes back to the twelfth century. Announced as UNESCO World Heritage Site, this cathedral was part of the Route of Saint James pilgrimage trail. Worshippers traveled through Bordeaux from the Médoc, Tours, and the British Isles on their way to Santiago in Spain. the Cathedral of Saint Andrew has an amazing front wall with models of the Last Supper, the Ascension, and Christ in Majesty. fascinatingly, the western front side of the cathedral is totally unadorned, since it was originally excessively near to the old town walls.
